Statement – November 1, 2005:
Iranian-American Community of Northern Claifornia –
Rally against Ahmadinejad’s October 26, 2005 Remarks

Iranian American Community of Northern Clifornia, condemns the vile and bellicose remarks by the Iranian regime's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who called for destruction of Israel and the United States and threatened Arab and Muslim nations with terrorism.

Ahmadinejad's despicable position and its reaffirmation by other government officials must serve as a wake up call to all Western capitals. The most prudent way to counter it would be the formulation of a firm and sound policy.

To this end we call on the United States and the European Union to abandon the policy of engaging Iran's outlaw regime and to adopt a firm policy in support of democratic change in Iran.

The Iranian-American Community of Northern California applauds the swift condemnation by the US House of Representatives and the Senate of Ahmadinejad's repugnant remarks and supports fully Congressional efforts aimed at expelling the Iranian regime from the United Nations.

Ahmadinejad's pernicious speech was a clear manifestation of Tehran's sinister goal of exporting of terrorism and fundamentalism to Iraq, the region, and beyond. Soon after his sham electoral victory, Ahmadinejad said, "A new Islamic Revolution has arisen ... The wave of Islamic Revolution will soon reach across the globe."

The speech signals the resurgence of a rogue regime which is banking on the lack of resolve in Washington and the EU capitals to confront its nuclear weapons ambitions and its wicked campaign to derail Iraq's fragile democratic process.

We, the Iranian-American in Northern California reaffirm:

The religious dictatorship ruling Iran is the greatest obstacle to democracy in Iran and to peace and stability in the region;

Tehran's nuclear weapons program runs counter to the interests of Iranian people. The clerical regime has lied to and misled the international community for two decades. It should be referred to the UN Security Council for the blatant breach of its NPT obligations;

The Iranian people want a country free of nuclear weapons, terrorism and tyranny. They seek change of the Tehran regime and the establishment of democracy in Iran;
Western governments' policy of appeasement has been an utter failure, and only strengthened the most radical factions of the ruling clique. It must be halted immediately;

The option proposed by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President- elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, represents the only viable policy option since it stipulates that democratic change in Iran can only come about through the Iranian people and their Resistance, not through appeasement or a foreign war;
The blacklisting of the People's Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI) was part and parcel of appeasement policy. This label must be immediately removed because it has hamstrung more than 90 percent of Iran's democratic opposition's social, political, intelligence and financial capabilities, potentials and resources.
